G66: XPO

Radiography

The XPO Series takes inspiration from radiography and X-ray imagery, transforming the familiar Grafika66 iconography into skeletal, translucent forms.

Thw work utilizes a variety of 3D and 2D production techniques to get the final results on display here, heavily influenced by collage, and using a variety of found elements.

At its core, this work is driven by the art of collage and the habit of collecting textures while on the move. Rather than building everything from scratch at a desk, the process starts with travel photography and actively hunting for weathered surfaces, layers of peeling street art, and unique urban grit.

Every city has its own visual noise, and capturing those fleeting details through a camera lens provides the raw material for everything that follows.

Collage allows these found elements to be pulled out of their original contexts and given a completely new life. A texture photographed on a concrete wall half a world away might become the background grit for a new graphic element, or a piece of decaying graffiti might get sliced up and repurposed into a bold layout.

It is about taking the accidental beauty of the everyday world and assembling it into something new and intentional.

By merging these real-world photographic discoveries with independent graphic elements, like sharp typography and geometric stencils, the final pieces bridge the gap between digital precision and raw analog texture.

This mix of found materials and clean design creates a versatile style that translates naturally across different formats, whether it is applied to large-scale prints, limited apparel runs, or custom vehicle liveries.

By leveraging 3D rendering alongside custom materials, the production process mimics the layered transparency of a diagnostic scan. High-contrast skeletal elements, metallic structures, and graphic geometries are blended into the final composite. These highly detailed, translucent forms are then subverted by embedding raw streetwear textures, vector line art, and gestural graffiti strokes into a cohesive final image.

Once rendered, these layers are pulled into a 2D compositing environment where they are flattened alongside raw vector lines, custom typography, and digital paint strokes. This technique helps eliminate the visual separation between the 3D and 2D elements, creating a unified, high-contrast style.

01

Year: 2021 / Format: Print / Collection: G66: XPO

The skull is a recurring motif throughout much of the work. Many pieces revolve around the exploration of materials, textures, and graphic compositions, with the skull serving as a primary element to build upon — an extension of the blank canvas. It isn’t necessarily used because of its association with death or other darker themes, but rather as an object to manipulate and experiment with.

Unison [ Black on White Edition ]

Year: 2023
Format: Print
Collection: G66: XPO

This piece showcases the core of the collection, where the anatomy and aesthetic are pushed through a distinct X-ray-style rendering technique. By stripping back the surface, the design reveals a stark, skeletal structure defined by high-contrast monochrome tones and clinical, precise line work.

The juxtaposition of the softened heart motif against the sharp, industrial-looking skulls creates a visceral tension, highlighting the duality between organic form and technical process. It is an exploration of depth, skeletal geometry, and the beauty found in the minimalist view of the subject.

Grenade II + III

Year: 2024 / Format: Print / Collection: G66: XPO

The works in this particular collection are prime examples of how everyday textures and elements such as barcodes, labels, wall surfaces, ink splashes, and scribbles are layered and composed. The art of collage is a significant influence, and the combination of traditional 2D media with 3D-rendered objects, as seen in these pieces, continues to inspire the work.

From the Streets to the Studio

The approach to production in this collection relies heavily on the tension created when found elements and independent design assets collide to tell a completely new story.

By documenting the fleeting, rebellious marks of photographed graffiti and pairing them with the tactile grit of collected textures like distressed paper and weathered concrete, the work gains a distinct, tangible depth. These organic, chaotic layers are then contrasted against sharply designed graphic elements, from bold typography to clean geometric stencils.

This juxtaposition of the accidental and the intentional allows the artwork to evolve constantly, shifting meaning depending on how the layers intersect.

It is a process of curation and transformation, taking fragments of the everyday world that are often overlooked and reassembling them into something powerful, cohesive, and entirely unexpected.

By treating these diverse influences as raw materials, the final compositions transcend traditional boundaries. The result is a versatile aesthetic that brings high-impact visual narratives to life, whether it is channelled into large-scale prints, limited-edition apparel, or custom vehicle liveries.
