Classics Reborn

The G66: NEO_CLASSIC Series represents a group of pieces that, like most of the Grafika66 body of work, are influenced by a variety of sources. These include, but are not limited to: classical art, pop art, collage, graffiti, 3D imagery, and modern pop culture.

Graffiti featured throughout some of the work was taken from photos shot while traveling in various locations around Europe, and sometimes the pieces are named after the city or region of the graffiti and tags used.

Originally created as a round digital art print featuring a lime green skull mask overlaid on a metallic classical bust, the artwork explores the striking contrast between historical form and modern street art elements.

The visual narrative carries directly into a conceptual automotive helmet design render, exploring how the complex collage of European graffiti, 3D imagery, and bold geometric shapes scales onto structural contours. Unified by its distinctive green, silver, and black palette, Boss stands as a core anchor of the collection’s multi-disciplinary approach.

The Neo-Classic Collection utilises 3D data found in the public domain — scans taken of famous works of art throughout history. These have been processed and incorporated into the reinterpretations found on this page. The juxtaposition of the classical and historic with modern stylings has inspired this collection.

Much of the Grafika66 work makes use of found elements, whether small pieces of graffiti or construction symbols sprayed on the floor that have been photographed, or digital assets in the public domain, such as these models. Taking ubiquitous, often overlooked elements and giving them new life through art is often part of the production process.

Sometimes, pieces are even named after certain found elements within them. This could be a small tag, a road sign, a distinctive texture of some kind, or even a reference to the What3words geocode system that identifies where a photo of the found element was taken.

The G66: NEO_CLASSIC Collection also features Untitled II. Like much of the Grafika66 body of work, it’s focused entirely on evoking a distinct feeling and atmosphere rather than delivering a specific narrative or message. Centred around a vibrant, reclining lion flanked by a modified classical figure, the piece relies heavily on a variety of digital techniques to build its surreal texture.

The production process involves utilising distinct render passes to aid the final composition, merging hand-drawn 2D elements directly into the 3D space. By embedding these raw graphic lines, crown motifs, and geometric forms around the dimensional models, the flat and volumetric layers inhabit the exact same depth. This intricate approach to compositing brings a highly tactile, experimental depth to the final digital art print.
