G66: SKLL + XBONES

Classic Mortal Imagery

This skull and crossbones collection includes a variety of pieces based on the classic imagery of skulls and their respective crossbones. The set includes print designs, sculpture concepts, skatedeck art, and more.

This group of work introduces a series of sculptural editions based on the classic Grafika66 skull icon. Each piece reimagines the familiar symbol in three distinct sculptures.

The packaging for each sculpture has been designed to align closely to the edition’s colour scheme, creating a unified presentation that complements the individuality of every edition.

Also included in this skull and crossbones collection are print designs and skateboard decks, emblazoned with various interpretations of the classic imagery.

Designed as a premium collectible, the piece transitions the digital 3D forms from the screen into a tactile, freestanding object. The sculpture is produced in a variety of distinct colour variations, allowing the clean, high-gloss finish of the skull to contrast with the bold, geometric elements like the cross eyes and forehead heart.

For this release, designing the packaging was just as vital as sculpting the piece itself. The unboxing experience was approached from a pure graphic design perspective, considering how every detail—from the structural shape of the box to the specific inks and finishes—complements the physical artwork inside.

Custom Packaging Design: The box features an angled lidsplit, custom typography, and a subtle, tonal camo pattern that wraps around the exterior.

Premium Finishes: Utilizing specialized spot inks and metallic silver foil embossing for the central branding medallion to create a stark, premium feel.

Coordinated Colourways: To maintain a cohesive design language, the packaging is colour-matched to each specific sculpture variation, creating a fully integrated art piece from the inside out.

19XX [SKL]

Year: 2025
Format: Print
Collection: G66: 199X

The G66: 199X anthology represents an experimentation in colour and lighting.

Originally designed to be in the red/magenta and blue/cyan ranges, the introduction of emissive surfaces introduced shifts in the hues, resulting in the slight deviation from the original intent. The result were retro in vibe, hence the collection’s name – 199X.

The skull is a recurring motif throughout much of the work. Many pieces revolve around the exploration of materials, textures, and graphic compositions, with the skull serving as a primary element to build upon — an extension of the blank canvas. It isn’t necessarily used because of its association with death or other darker themes, but rather as an object to manipulate and experiment with.

Sometimes, however, the themes of death and love do loosely run through the work — though death is approached in a more positive light, akin to the Stoic practice of contemplating mortality in order to better appreciate the present.

Likewise, the heart and the theme of love often appear. Due to the power this subject holds for many people, it brings a heightened emotional energy to the pieces. The simplified heart shape also serves as a graphic element — one that can be stylised, distorted, and reused as a visual motif.

King (Crimson) Iso - Limited Edition Art Gallery Print

King Crimson
[ Iso Edition ]

Year: 2023
Format: Print
Collection: G66: SKLL + XBONES

The ISO Edition is a direct result of experimenting behind the scenes with different camera angles, lighting setups, and surface textures to see how a familiar design can completely shift in tone.

As a variation on the original King Crimson piece, this version was built by switching to an isometric camera perspective. Shifting to this specific lens configuration changes the distortion and scaling of the 3D forms, offering a precise, structured view that alters how the physical shapes sit on a flat canvas.

Beyond the camera mechanics, this edition serves as a deliberate study in the use of negative space. Rather than filling the canvas or centering the graphic, the patterned skull and crossbones are pushed entirely to the upper right quadrant, leaving the vast majority of the frame completely blank.
